Miami, Florida. She’s got it all; the crown, a successful modeling career and a heart of gold! Indiana Sanchez, crowned Miss Nicaragua 2009 is not afraid to share the spotlight, give back and look fabulous all at the same time. Indiana stood out in this year’s 2009 Miss Universe Pageant, as a unique contestant who has come from such hardships in life, to recently experiencing the fruits of her labor- and she decides to give it ALL back?
Indiana Sanchez was born in Nicaragua, in 1988. She immigrated to the U.S. and experienced the challenges that so many of us do. Growing up in extreme poverty, Indiana beat the odds. She enrolled in Nursing School and found Jesus Christ which altered her entire life and helped to open her heart!
As an already successful model, Indiana’s new found enlightenment and positive outlook on life lead to the decision of giving back. Through her charity, The Indiana Save a Life Foundation, Indiana deploys half of her income to help single mother’s in Nicaragua, and where appropriate, introducing them to Christ and what Christ can bring to their lives. The Indiana Save a Life Foundation raises money through micro loans, personal donations and micro grants. The quotation “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats forever“ truly applies to The Indiana Save a Life foundation, as they provide single mothers with the proper tools for success.
Indiana is a beauty pageant contestants actually making the word a better place, and she’s sticking to it! She’s committed to her three C’s: her Charity, her Craft and Christ.
