Houston, Texas. Local Furniture Designer, Pamela Halverson of Texas Tuscan Furniture Design is off on another design adventure deep in the jungles of Ubud, Indonesia.  What’s she looking to find in Ubud?  Well her Designer Chi, of course!

Ubud is a town located in central Bali.  Ubud can be described as a magical, wonderful, culturally rich community, famous for its arts and crafts.  Here in Ubud, Pamela finds her chi, or inspiration in unconventional ways.  Walks through the village has been a major catalyst for Pamela, where she finds magnificent Teak Root and Teak Bourough woods (see photos below).  These rare wooden structures will be incorporate in her new line, Designer Chi. “There is so much LIFE  in these downed pieces of wood.  The designs themselves are simple, the real design work is with nature.” What makes this line, Designer Chi unique is that Pamela is incorporating some of the largest slabs of organic wood that she has ever laid her eyes on!  “Throughout  Designer Chi, you will be seeing some large solid slab table tops and I am adding rock pedestals as the base.  I am also trying something new, and that’s using the complex Teak Roots themselves as benches. Most importantly I wanted the pieces to be all about natural movement of the wood. ”

Texas Home Grown Designers, Vinos, And Cuisine…d’lish!

Houston, Texas. On October 20th 2009 from 4p-7p,Texas Tuscan will be featuring Houston’s finest!   Showcasing top designers-both in furniture design and interior design.  These experts will discuss decorating tips,  room layouts, and the latest in Texas Decor.  A Texas wine symposium presented by Fall Creek Vineyards, a Texas winery from Austin and local food sensation Mandy Bennett from d’lish Catering will be on hand to  tempt your taste buds and dish up the latest in Texas Cuisine and Wines.  Fall Creek Vineyards champion selection, MERITUS is not only critically acclaimed, but has been described as “the finest wine red or white ever produced in the state of Texas” and “MERITUS honors the best of Texas wine” by a noted author and wine writer.  By combining Fall Creek and d’lish, who was recently highlighted on Fox 26 for serving up the most original dishes creates a celebration in itself.    d’lish will have sampling and selling “d’lish dips” such as; Sun Dried Tomato Dip, Gorgonzola Dip & Cayenne Pepper Toasts, all products can be found at Downtown Spec’s! About Pamela Halverson

Pamela is the designer of the Texas Tuscan Furniture collection and founder of Texas Tuscan Furniture Designs.  Her travels around the world work as her inspiration for her furniture designs. “ I observed in my travels people who live in tune with the earth whether in the Mediterranean, South East Asia or the Middle East share a similar quality to their life. I found a creative beauty in the organic objects in their lives.”

She started designing furniture in 1994, and began working with interior designs in 1996.  She has experience with interior design projects both residential and commercial in the USA and abroad.

Furniture Designer Pamela Halverson To Host Fundraiser and Art Extravaganza  March 12 5-8pm.

Houston, Texas - Today, Pamela Halverson announces her involvement in hosting a quarterly Fund Raiser to support local artists.

About Pamela Halverson

Pamela Halverson, owner and furniture designer of Texas Tuscan Furniture Designs, has supported local artist since her store opened in 2007. Each quarter she hosts a new artist and opens the collection with a reception in her showroom located at 8200 Washington Avenue.  “I find that in partnering with other artist we can expand interest in art, whether it be on a canvas or in the furniture we bring into our lives”.

About featured Artist, Katalin Ehling

The featured artists have been local, but the upcoming show will feature Pamela’s long time friend, Katalin Ehling. Katalin was born in Hungary in 1941. In 1950 immigrated to the United States and currently living in Cave Creek Arizona.

Formal art education included the full program to become a commercial artist at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. In the fall of 1963, Katalin moved to Paris, France, for a year of further art training. In 1966 moved to Arizona and continued taking art classes at Phoenix College. It was during this time that she discovered the wonders of batik and decided to make it her life’s work. Since she approached the medium and presented it as fine art, many galleries throughout the southwest opened their doors to this new look and Katalin found great acceptance as an artist.

In the 80s she began working with watercolor and original printmaking, such as lithography, serigraphy and etching, and worked in a variety of studios that specialized in these art forms.

Katalin has shown her work worldwide and in 1995 illustrated an award winning children’s book, THE NIGHT THE GRANDFATHER’S DANCED from Northland Publishing.

About Pamela Halverson and Katalin Ehling Teaming Up

Both Pamela and Katalin travel extensively and find inspiration in their travel.  The show opening March 12, 2009 is the result of worldwide travel by both and the exhibit will reflect the artist view of cultural diversity.  Pamela through her furniture designs and Katalin through her batik.  The March 12 party will raise money for Medical Bridges through sales of the evening.

Texas Tuscan Furniture Designs Inc., started the Houston based showroom in April 2007.  The furniture that is designed by Pamela, uses exotic hardwoods, many of them recycled, repurposing the beautiful woods into fresh and functional furniture pieces for today’s casual living.  Pamela has redefined the look of fine furniture through the use of her beautiful hardwood resources, handmade detailed craftsmanship of the furniture and her original furniture designs.  The level of commitment to the quality of the furniture and the satisfaction of her customers makes Texas Tuscan Furniture Designs Inc. one of Houston’s treasures.
